DDRO History
The Downtown Denver Residents Organization ("DDRO") was founded on December 13, 1983. Our Articles of Incorporation show that the founding members, Donna McEnroe, William S. Saslow and Peter J. Adolph, signed incorporation papers on this date to become an official registered residents organization of the City and County of Denver.
DDRO?s purposes were described as:
"benevolent, civic, patriotic, and cultural and on behalf of its members to operate as a voluntary, general purpose, officially recognized neighborhood organization of individual residents and owners of real property" DDRO is a not for profit corporation.
Our Bylaws further elaborate by stating that we are organized:
"to promote, encourage, and foster civic betterment and social welfare activities in downtown Denver"
Since the beginning, DDRO has represented residents and others by appearing before the Denver City Council meeting to support or voice opposition to various code changes, new construction projects, zoning changes, traffic concerns, park additions, and a myriad of concerns to downtown Denver. We have worked with several other organizations, including the St. Charles Neighborhood Group, Lodo District, Inc., the Downtown Denver Partnership, community leaders and public officials to create a vision for downtown living and to address issues that affect downtown residents.
Throughout its history, DDRO has sponsored social events to encourage our community to become a true neighborhood of friendly and active people. We are very proud our history and how we have grown throughout the years to become an organization that is truly a part of the vibrant neighborhood fabric of downtown Denver.
